STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION (started 2/6/15)
Saturday 23th & Sunday 24th May 2015
Saturday 23th May:
0930 start : Mixed Under 7s (5 aside), 11s (6 a-side) & Boys 15s (6 a-side) 1430 start : Mixed Under 9s (7 aside), 13s (6 a-side) & Boys 16s (5 a-side) Sunday 24th May: 0930 start : Mixed Under 8s (5 aside), 10s (7 aside) & 12s (6 a-side) 1430 start : Boys Under 14s (6 a-side), 18s (5 a-side) & New for 2015 Under 21s (5 a-side) Our weekend Tournament was once again a tremendous success with nearly 160 teams entering (most have been coming year after year), each playing a minimum of 7 games in the group stages. We pride ourselves of ensuring teams have as much match time as possible. We had the capacity for up to 18/20 teams in each age group and some were filled up extremely quickly. |
Glenn Hawkins, our Chairman and Tournament Co-ordinator, is highly organised and extremely efficient - infamous for his very strict timekeeping and, as always, firmly placed the emphasis of the whole weekend on enjoyment and respect - for players, parents, supporters and officials alike.
The weather was glorious on the Saturday and the forecast of possible rain on Sunday afternoon was incorrect - for once it did not make an appearance. As well as all the exciting matches, there was a large slide and bouncy castle for the youngsters, hardest shot competition for different ages with prizes and a huge variety of refreshments - including a superb BBQ, delicious ice-creams, home-made cakes, tasty rolls, refreshing drinks and succulent sweets. On behalf of the Club we would like to express our very sincere thanks
to the players, parents, managers, supporters and the referees for making this year's Tournament another successful and very enjoyable weekend for everyone
RAFFLE WINNERS
The draw took place at 6:30pm on Sunday at the Raffle Stall in front of a number of people - referees, parents & others. Different people helped make the draw, starting with a referee drawing out the cash prizes.
NB : Just in case some of you are thinking "hang on there . . . this looks suspicious" . . . with 46% of the 1980
ticket sales (that's 910) from managers, parents, supporters of the 16 Cholsey Bluebirds' teams participating, statistically, it isn't surprising that they feature highly in the winners list above. In fact 18 winners from 37 prizes is 48.6% which is almost identical to the % of tickets bought. Some PHOTOS from the Tournament

Hi Glen
Great weekend great tournament...
Best wishes to you and the family and Cholsey. If it wasn't for you and your efforts it wouldn't be so enjoyable. I've penciled in for next year already.
Regards Keith Godfrey (Referee)
I would just like to say well done on the organisation of Saturday's tournament. I travelled from South Wales to watch my grandson take part in the U15s for Crowmarsh (they won). I have organised rugby tournaments of the same nature so know how much needs to be done. I really enjoyed the day. Thank you.
Regards J D Ellis (Grandfather)
Hi Glenn.
It was a pleasure to referee at your tournament this year and will see you next year please put me down on your list.
Kind Regards Mike Wheeler (Referee)
At the risk of establishing a mutual admiration society, well done you and your team! Great to be part of it. Have a fab trip to Amsterdam. Paul Dick (Referee)
Hi Glenn
Just a quick email to say what a great, well organised tournament you hosted over the weekend. All the boys at Abingdon Youth Greens under 11 and parents really enjoyed the tournament. The boys had a lot of football and really enjoyed being in the final but sadly lost to Harwell. All the boys were very impressed with their Trophies.
Thanks again
Sarah Studd (Abingdon Youth Greens)
Hi Glenn
Just a quick thank you for an excellent tournament this year - the best I've done. Fantastic pitches, fast turnover, great goal sizes and real value for money.
Thanks Adam (Southcote Colts u14s)
