Summary 2019/20 as U9s Blues
We began the 2019 autumn league in the B division after splitting into two teams at the end of last season. A committed squad of 10 players started the season fantastically well with 5 straight wins including two 6-0 wins. We finished the autumn league unbeaten with 6 wins and 2 draws and finished top to get back into the top flight.
With training at the Hithercroft going well on a Wednesday we prepared for the A league. We played last season's winners Horspath in the first game and put in a gritty display losing out 4-2. We then suffered a blow by losing a very influential player to Oxford United and took a while to adapt. Losing the next couple of games. We finally turned the corner with a hard fought cup win on penalties to Didcot Town. We then went on a great run of 3 wins and ended the season with a Semi-Final win against Cumnor minors at home, playing some fluid passing football with some clinical finishing ... the cup final was awaiting until the season came to a premature end.
The team have been progressing well and we already have everyone confirm for next season. One or two additions and the blues can challenge any team we come up against.

Summary 2018/19 as U8s (NB: only one team last year)
Another year playing in the very competitive A league, and, as always, our players rose to the challenge, improving throughout the season. We reached the semi-finals at the Oxford City Spring Trophy event losing to league winners Horspath. We also got to the supplementary final of the knockout cup. We had some tough games in the league but had some great wins against top opposition - notable wins over Oxford Blackbirds, Kidlington and Harwell & Hendred. We also saw two of our players scouted for Oxford United which was fantastic to see.
The squad were able to be mascots for Oxford United back in April, thanks to our very generous sponsors Belinda & Lawrence at Thames Construction. We all had a great day and I’m sure it was an experience the players will never forget. A huge thank you to you both for all you have done for the team, and your continued support.
We have been at full squad size capacity all season which has made it difficult to give everyone equal game time. However, due to the continued interest from new players we are happy to announce that from next season there will be two Under 9’s teams - Cholsey Bluebirds Blues & Cholsey Bluebirds Whites. We are looking forward to the new challenges Under 9 football will bring in September.
We would like to thank all of the parents for their continued support, help and understanding. Thank you to Andy Lewis for being our fantastic referee for all of our home matches. Finally, and most importantly, a massive thank you to our players for their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm every week.

Summary 2017/18 as U7s
Having been involved in helping Glenn with the Rising stars for the last two years, myself and Adie Lee took charge of the Under 7 team for the 2017/18 season. We originally had 9 signed on who all came through from Rising Stars. We started off excellently in the local league system, winning all 6 matches with some great wins. Notably 5-2 at Berinsfield and 6-0 against a good St Edmunds team.
We qualified for the A league after reaching the semi-finals at Oxford City. At this stage our squad grew to 13 players. We struggled initially in the A league, our village kids were a little intimidated coming up against the Oxford teams. We found our feet though, and won 5 in a row before losing the semi-final to the eventual winners. We finished in 4th place which was an excellent performance in our first season.
We would like the thank the committee for being so welcoming, Laurence and Belinda at Thames Construction who sponsor us, and all the parents that help week in week out. It’s been a great first year and looking forward to many more.

Summary of the Rising Stars from 2016/17
The Rising Stars are the lifeblood the Club. Without the influx of our youngsters we would soon cease to exist. So, I’m really pleased to say that we have had 12 regulars attending Saturday morning training sessions and another 5 or 6 coming along now and again. They ALL have displayed great enthusiasm throughout the year and had a brilliant time at our Tournament. There are some very promising players and as Under 7s next year, will be playing 5 aside matches in the Oxford Mail Youth League.
