GIRLS FOOTBALL OPPORTUNITIES at the BLUEBIRDS
Dear Parents, Friends, Managers & Anyone interested in Girls Football
Cholsey Bluebirds are passionate about providing opportunities for our youngsters to participate in football and have been doing so in the village for 55 years.
We are a club that promotes inclusion for all, and are keen to grow the numbers of girls involved in either our existing mixed or new girls only teams.
If you have girls interested in joining the Bluebirds, we would appreciate you completing our short survey so we can plan for the upcoming season and future. We also require Coaches to help run these teams, if you are interested please complete the survey.
Finally, we are a volunteer run club and therefore cannot provide these opportunities without the support of the community. We are always in need of support, so, if you think you would be able to help us in any way or have been part of the Bluebirds previously and have useful suggestions, please take a look at the survey.
Thank you for your help and support
Cholsey Bluebirds

RESULT
A FANTASTIC EFFORT from the whole team last Thursday. Had we had a bit more luck and an official ref, plus a full squad, the result could well have been different. But that’s History as they say, and we move on. We lost 5-1.
Their first was from a corner and then we equalised following a teasing free kick by Alex to the far post with Finbarr timing his run superbly and slotting home. Unfortunately, not long after we conceded another, from a corner AGAIN - we’ll have to work on that. So 2-1 at HT.
Although they had most of the possession in the second half, we hung on in there for the first 20 minutes or so, working exceptionally hard but the pressure finally told and they deservedly scored their third.
Soon after, there were two contentious decisions, both for handball in our favour, which could well have resulted in 2 of their players being sent off - both denying good goal-scoring opportunities - but neither player (one being their goalkeeper) were even booked.
Their last 2 goals came in the final 10 minutes, with their 5th hitting the post and unfortunately rebounding in off the back of Ben our keeper, who had had an excellent game producing a couple of very good saves. That was cruel and we didn’t deserve that.
The squad should be very proud of themselves though, I and our parents certainly were - they were up against a quality team and were a real credit to the Club, emphasising our great tradition of "never giving up".

CB U18s drawn against Didcot Town FC U18s Allied Counties
in the Berks & Bucks BILL GOSLING U18s YOUTH CUP 1st RD
What a draw ! Due to fixture congestion at Didcot Town FC's Stadium, the fixture will be played on the 4G surface at TILSLEY PARK's main Stadium pitch in Abingdon on THURSDAY 7th OCTOBER under floodlights with an 8pm KO.
This will be a real test for my young men but I'm confident they will do not only themselves proud, but also myself as their manager and, above all, the Club too. On their day, they are a force to be reckoned with, as we have some real quality in the squad. One of our lads achieved the "Golden Boot" last season with 25 goals to his name; another banged in 19 goals and was 5th highest scorer; plus we had the best defensive record in our division.
If you have a spare evening and want to be entertained by some quality football, then please join us and support the Team - you won't be disappointed. There will be an entry fee of £2 for spectators.

Updates from the Chairman of Cholsey Bluebirds Football Club
Rising Stars
Rising Stars will be returning on Saturday mornings, from this Saturday (11th September), for boys and girls aged under 7 or turning 7 in this new school year. It takes place by the football pavilion in the Jubilee field from 9.30-10.30am and costs £1 per session. There is no need to book a space - just turn up.
Under 7s football
We have extended the age range for Rising Stars to 7 because we don’t currently have an Under 7s team, but we would like to offer a footballing opportunity to players who would have otherwise started in our Under 7s this season. We are hoping to offer an Under 7s team in the New Year, but will keep the community posted on developments about this via the Club website and other channels.
Girls football
A number of our girls teams decided to part company with the Bluebirds to start their own Club this season. The Bluebirds are therefore seeking potential managers and volunteers to start up new girls teams within our Club this season and beyond. If anyone is interested, they should contact Mark Toal, the Chairman, on 07734438910. In addition, as always, girls who would like to play for our Club are very welcome to join the Rising Stars, or to get in contact with the managers of our teams to discuss if there is an opportunity to join our existing mixed teams at the relevant age.

The NEW MEMBERSHIP ENROLMENT FORM for the coming season 2021/22 is now available to download (both pdf & word)
by clicking below.
Message from our chairman:
Dear Bluebirds Community,
As is often said these days, we live in challenging times. However, despite the ongoing Covid risk, it is great to know that after 18 months of disruption during the lockdowns, everything appears in place for the start of a new season and I am sure that you and your players are looking forward to it. Thank you so much for all your support over the past 18 months and I hope to see that support continue when the 2021/22 season kicks off in September.
The Oxfordshire Youth Football League are planning to start fixtures in the new season from 11th/12thSeptember. This is obviously subject to further guidance from the FA and ultimately, from the Government, about COVID-19 and public health. Your managers will confirm the situation with you closer to the time, in early September.
In the meantime, please refer to the 2021/22 Membership form link below. We would be grateful if you could complete and return this form to the Manager of your child's team and make the relevant payment as soon as you are able - payment details are on the form.
You will note that the Club has kept our enrolment fee the same (£85 and £45 for brothers/sisters) - one of the cheapest in the County. Cholsey Bluebirds FC provides fantastic value for money and we want to be as inclusive as possible for all families, whatever their circumstances may be.
I hope that you and your families stay safe and keep well over the rest of the Summer and I look forward to standing with you, at the respect line, cheering on our fantastic players in the new season!
Best wishes,
Mark Toal
