JOBS DAY : SATURDAY 11th MAY

CAN YOU HELP ?

Hi,

Following on from our previous message about our Cholsey Bluebirds Pavilion 'jobs day' on Saturday 11th May (an e-mail sent out to all parents via their team manager), we would be really grateful for a number of volunteers to come and help out on the day with several specific jobs, all of which aim to help improve the environment of our Pavilion.
  • A couple of people to help install new units in the kitchen.
  • Someone with plumbing/handyman experience to check plumbing for our toilets
  • Someone to help replace some roof slates.
  • A couple of people to help sand and stain doors and windows
  • A couple of people with joinery/handyman experience to help ease one of the toilet doors and to help make new goal posts for the tournament
  • A few people to help bin old equipment/other misc in the pavilion and to help tidy up generally.

As you can see, we have much to do, so as much help as possible would be hugely appreciated. More hands, lighter work etc.

Please let your manager know and drop me an email if you are able to help with the above on Saturday so that we can organise who will be doing what.

Many thanks,

Mark Toal   (Chairman : marktoal@hotmail.co.uk )

SUMMER TOURNAMENT FINAL ENTRIES' UPDATE

Glenn Hawkins, our Tournament Organiser has the following updates on entries so far :

Under 11s and U15s are FULL
SPACES available for GIRLS Under 9s and Under 16s

All other age groups could possibly have space for only ONE or TWO further entries.

At present, we have 179 teams participating (186 last year playing 732 matches) and are limited to a maximum of no more than 200 due to the time factor which allows for a maximum of around 800 matches using our 12 pitches to capacity.
All group matches are 8 minutes and Glenn prides himself on his timekeeping in tandem with the efficiency of our excellent team of referees led by Mike Wheeler.

FOR any INTERESTED MANAGERS :
By all means contact Glenn to see if there may be a space for your team but be prepared to be disappointed unless Girls U9s or U16s. PLEASE TRY BY E-MAIL in the first instance - thank you.

CHARITY RACE NIGHT

organised by CHOLSEY GOLF SOCIETY

supporting   FIVE   local organisations

Cholsey Golf Society and its members are proud of their tradition of supporting local clubs and organisation and this year, they have already donated :
£1300 to THE THAMES AIR AMBULANCE,
£445 to The TREEHOUSE SCHOOL,
£100 to THE HAPPY HUB FAMILY CENTRE
£175 to THE DAY CENTRE,
from their
Christmas Raffle & Auction proceeds.

The RACE NIGHT is once again supporting CHIPS (Cholsey Summer Playscheme), CHOLSEY BLUEBIRDS FC and
CHOKO (sponsoring a barrel for the 9th consecutive year at their Festival).

Over the past 9 years the Golf Society has donated £500 to The BLUEBIRDS and, in total, over £10,000 to local "good causes".

Also, this year, the bar & food have been organised by THE BARN FITNESS CLUB who have 18 members climbing Mount Kilimanjaro later this year in aid of NASIO TRUST (a charity that is “changing lives” in Kenya). Their Target is £20,000.
Our WELFARE OFFICER, LOUISE McALISTER is one of those on the climb (see photo right).

The HAPPY HUB (a local Family Centre) have organised the Raffle and all proceeds will go towards helping buying much needed equipment.

PLEASE JOIN US at our RACE NIGHT on Saturday 30th March, 6:30 - 9:30pm. at the Village Pavilion, with the first of 9 races under starters orders at 7:00pm.
Bets are only 50p so nobody is going to win or lose a fortune.

IT IS A FUN EVENING FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY.

VERY IMPORTANT : MUD IN VILLAGE PAVILION !!

For Managers, Parents, Players of BOTH Cholsey Bluebirds and AWAY teams - your co-operation will be very much appreciated.

Hi,

Can Managers please proactively say to your players, their parents & guardians and visiting teams that they cannot use the Station Road Village Pavilion (by car park) in & around our matches, especially the toilets or any other aspect of the Pavilion facilities.
We can only use the Station Road Pavilion when we have legitimately hired it for official Bluebirds events. We have a great Club Pavilion of our own, with toilets, so let’s proactively point everyone towards it at match times.
I ask this because the Trust that runs the Pavilion has written to me formally, noting that players in muddy boots have walked through the Pavilion to use the facilities at the weekends, particularly on Saturday mornings, when a community cafe is organised by a local group. This has meant that Trust staff have had to clean the place up at short notice to ensure it is presentable for people who have hired it for private or community events.
Let’s ensure that our teams and visiting teams respect our community assets. I’ve asked the Trust to keep the situation under review and contact me again if they still see any use of the Station Road Pavilion by ourselves or our visiting teams.
The Trust has also said that of course anyone, including ourselves and visiting teams, can enjoy the Community Café or other public events when they are on. But if we do so, they have asked that muddy boots are taken off and left outside, for obvious reasons. To me this seems an entirely fair ask.
Best wishes,
Mark Toal
Chairman
