I have been playing football all my life and this passion has rubbed off on my kids who also show a keen interest in the sport. Both of my sons play for Cholsey Bluebirds and when the opportunity came for me to manage my younger son when he joined the Under 7’s team, I jumped at it and completed my FA Level 1 coaching course.
I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching the team for the last two seasons and I’m very excited about the challenge of moving up to Under 9’s with bigger pitches and a 7 a-side format. We have a great bunch of players and a fantastic team spirit which shines through when they demand to sing the national anthem before every game! I can’t wait for the excitement of Saturday mornings, the buzz before kick-off and the unpredictability of our wonderful sport. With some exciting new talent in the squad, I foresee a good future for the team. Most of all, Mark and I will ensure they enjoy football as much as we did and still do. Jonathan I love the game and over the years I have played for Benson, Crowmarsh as well as Maidenhead Youth and Men's teams. I have also managed various five and six a side teams locally and had some successes along the way! I started out helping with the rising stars and coached the under 7's last year. I have enjoyed helping and developing a great bunch of kids who have good sporting attitudes and a fantastic team ethic. We try to create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere as well as promoting the recognition of everyone's individual value and contribution to the team. We have amazing support from a brilliant bunch of parents and believe all of this combined will result in a very bright future for our team. Mark |

About Michael
I’ve been involved in football from an early age playing for Basildon Boys in Essex for 4 years before moving to Oxfordshire in1994. Since then I have had spells with Abingdon Boys, St Edmund Boys before moving into men’s football playing for Blewbury FC.
In 2019 my son discovered his love for football and wanted to join a local team. We started with the Rising Stars at Cholsey which is a great introduction to the game before venturing into the U7’s. After a successful first half of the season it was clear to see the love for the game from all involved and that saw interest grow, so the decision was then made to start a second team which I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of.
Since then I have started working towards my level 1 coaching badge with the help and support of the Bluebird family and we have had a successful second half of the season.
At the start of this journey we wanted to create a safe environment for all involved so that the team have the freedom to express themselves and more importantly enjoy themselves. I believe we have succeeded and will continue with this as we move to the U8’s this coming season.
It’s a privilege to be part of such a great club and I am proud to be involved with an amazing group of volunteers, parents and children.

About Chris, Neil & Nick
In 2018 we w ere parents supporting our children but as the popularity of football in the age group grew, along with Nick and Adrian we could see that in 2019/2020 we would need to split into two teams. Starting the 'whites' team has enabled the club to take on more players in the U9 age groups, provide more game time for the players, and gives us teams in different leagues. Whilst both of us are new to coaching we have always played football to some degree and can still be found most Wed evenings playing a regular friendly session with others from the village. We are working towards our FA Level 1 coaching certificate. We are keen to help everyone improve their skills and build their confidence as both players, team members and individuals. |

I have loved football from an early age, with my Dad and Grandad playing to a good standard. My son developed his love of the game early on too and despite 'having' to support the same team as me (Spurs), it hasn't put him off! Having previously been a coach at Wallingford Rugby Club for several years too, when the opportunity came to play an active role with the Bluebirds, I couldn't resist. I feel very fortunate to have such a brilliant group of players (and parents) to work with and we have made huge strides with successive promotions taking us from the bottom league when we started, to the higher leagues today. We have built a culture based on the importance of the team not individuals, where having the right attitude is a non-negotiable and most importantly, where enjoyment and having fun is at the centre of everything we do. I have completed my FA level 1 coaching and look forward to another great season.

About Mark
I’ve loved football since I was little; kicking a ball almost as soon as I could walk. I started my playing career with Crowmarsh Boys, including playing for the Oxfordshire County team, including training at England home of football at the time, Bisham Abbey.
Trials then followed with Wycombe and Oxford, which unfortunately couldn’t be pursued due to school commitments.
It was with Crowmarsh Men’s team that I finished my playing days, but since moving to the village I have switched the orange jersey for a (much better) blue one!
My involvement with Bluebirds started when I took my son along to the Rising Stars, and when he moved into the U7s, I took on the role of managing the team (assisted by Duncan Coleman).

I've been a manager with the Bluebirds since the boys entered into the Oxford Mail Youth Football League 7 years ago. Along with my fellow FA licenced coach Rich, we provide regular training and matchday experience for everyone in the squad and pride ourselves in making football as equally, accessible and fun as possible for all. We are both qualified FA coaches.

I've been playing football all my life and love the game. Injuries put paid to my playing career so, like all good players, I've moved into management ! I'm currently working towards my FA Coaching Badges. I grew up in the village and although I've been all over the Country as an adult, there is no better place than "home" and no better Club than Cholsey Bluebirds. I am very proud to be involved with such a great group of adults, parents and especially, the children. About Steve (awaiting blurb) |

I’ve always had an interest in football, but didn’t really start to play until I went to University and was inspired by sharing a training ground with the Newcastle United team (in the era of David Ginola, Les Ferdinand and Peter Beardsley, when Kevin Keegan was their manager). Post-University saw a period of playing 11-a-side, and then 5-a-side (including a spell as manager) until children arrived and put a stop to my playing days. I was content supporting my son (and husband) as they embarked on their respective playing/ management career, until my daughter and a group of friends became interested in football and asked if I would be their manager.

My fourth season with the Bluebirds. I have a long history of managing adults football - 15 years managing Woodcote Stoke Row. I'm very much looking forward to this year, especially as the team have really progressed and now face the challenge of playing on an adult-size pitch. Awaiting Ben's blurb |

About Dave
Since joining the Bluebirds as the Manager of the U7s in 2009, I have had the privilege of working with some wonderful children, exceptionally supportive parents and also a fantastically enthusiastic group of managers and officers within the Club.
Andy Chapman, a parent, took over the team in 2010 as U8s and has stayed with them until they reached U18s last season, so I welcomed a new group of U7s. I too have stayed with this group and the 2020/21 season was my 11th year with them.
Originally, I anticipated retiring 2 years ago . . . . . . but the OYFL decided to include U16/17/18s age groups . . . so FINALLY, this will be my LAST YEAR . . . . and I can retire gracefully !
On a personal level, I have been a goalkeeper from the age of 10. No stamina and couldn't run so couldn't play outfield - my sliding tackles though were legendary. Lost my first ever school match back in 1960 playing on Hackney Marshes, 10-1, and I played brilliantly (I think - memory's a bit dodgy now) - trouble was the goals back then were all FULL SIZE ADULT GOALS (only 11 aside on full size pitches) - I didn't stand much chance with shots above 5 feet !
At university I played in the 1st team at University College London and was Captain in 1971. After leaving and becoming a Primary teacher, I played for Ulysses (University of London Old Boys). My most memorable match was beating Epsom & Ewell on the 29th September 1973 in the FA Amateur Cup 1st Quaifying Round 1-0, in front of over 1000 spectators (E&E were 3 divisions above us). However, we won't mention the 2nd Qualifying Round match !
I'm really looking forward to my final season as I feel the present squad is the strongest group of players I've had since I started - it would be nice to win some Silverware to round off a brilliant, enjoyable and rewarding career in Management.
