Summary 2019/20 Season - ALL GIRLS' TEAMS
10s GIRLS & OTHER GIRLS' TEAMS (U7s & U8s)
It’s been another fantastic year for the girls section of the club.
As a group of coaches we aim to develop the physical, technical, psychological and social skills of all of the girls but most importantly we want to ensure they all ENJOY their football.
We started with just 5 girls in 2018 and have seen the numbers grow dramatically, resulting in 2 teams at u10’s in the Oxford Mail Girls League this season and teams in both u7 and U8’s representing the club in a number of Oxfordshire and Berkshire festivals, which finished with the u7’s winning all 6 of their games.
We had 25 girls attending the U10 training sessions on a Monday night enabling us to form 2 teams at this age group. The Blues and the Royals.
The U10 Blues were on course to win the League Cup for a third time in a row before the coronavirus hit us after qualifying for the semi finals, so they were clearly disappointed to miss out on the opportunity.
The U10 Royals were also in the shield quarter finals and were gaining in both momentum and confidence after only being formed in the latter parts of 2019.
The U10’s did however get to win some silverware this season by winning the Oxford Mail Girls Futsal Championship with outstanding team performances across 2 days of tournaments.
Off the pitch the girls have been able to represent the club in being mascots for the Reading FC Women’s team against Tottenham Hotspur FC whilst also meeting a number of the first team players from both teams. The girls also had the honour of having the Reading Women’s captain, Natasha Harding, attend training to give them some advice, guidance and inspiration.
We are now looking forward to the start of next season where we will be fielding girls teams in the Oxford Mail Girls League at the U8, U10 and U11 age groups whilst also continuing to develop more potential lionesses through the FA Wildcats scheme on Sunday mornings.

Summary 2018/19 Season as U9s GIRLS
The U9 girls have continued to grow in numbers since their formation in the 2017-18 season, with 16 girls now attending regularly. The girls have been brilliant all season winning 13, drawing 3 and losing 4 in the league, cup and trophy games - scoring 56 goals, conceding 19 and keeping 11 clean sheets.
Their teamwork, dedication and eagerness to learn and develop has resulted in them being runners up in the ‘A’ trophy event in December and then WINNING the Oxford Mail Girls League Cup in May for the second year in a row after, a well-deserved 1-0 win in the final.
Girls football is growing from strength to strength and we welcome any new players to join us for next season and / or any girls from 5-11 years old to join our FA Wildcats centre. For more details on girls football in Cholsey please contact me via email at jwebste1@hotmail.co.uk.

Summary 2017/18 Season as U8s GIRLS
Formed only in October 2017, the girls team have shown a willingness to learn and a desire to improve every week. We entered our first festival in December at Witney. The results did not go our way, but the girls all walked off with big smiles on their faces.
We continued to train hard and entered festivals in both Reading and Oxford, as well as playing in a few friendly fixtures throughout the season. All the hard work and dedication paid off in May, when the girls attended their first competitive Oxford Mail Girls Football League Festival - they went on to win all 5 games and be crowned Champions.
It has been great to see the team grow in confidence and the new additions to the team have also added some invaluable experience. We are very much looking forward to the challenges of 7 aside next season on a bigger pitch and seeing the girls progress even more.
Thank you to our sponsor Zoe Barrington Groves Hairdressing & Beauty for the kit and to all the parents for their support during every game and training session. Most of all, thank you to the girls for their dedication and enthusiasm every week - making coaching them so enjoyable
