About Chris & Neil
In 2018 we were parents supporting our children but as the popularity of football in the age group grew, along with Nick and Adrian we could see that in 2019/20 we would need to split into two teams.  Starting the 'Whites' team has enabled the club to take on more players in the U9 age groups, provide more game time for the players, and gives us teams in different leagues.

Whilst both of us are new to coaching we have always played football to some degree and can still be found most Wed evenings playing a regular friendly session with others from the village.  We are working towards our FA Level 1 coaching certificate.

We are keen to help everyone improve their skills and build their confidence as both players, team members and individuals.

Summary 2020/21 as U10s White
The team have developed into a really strong, close knit group over the course of the year. They continue to make us proud and despite the interrupted year of football their game has continued to improve. The players are much more aware of the game around them, allowing for some great passing leading to some exciting goal scores over the season.
Our early games of the Autumn league were tough on the team as due to injuries we were only able to field the required seven players for our first few games. We played hard but against teams that could bring on subs we lost several games in the latter parts of the second half when fatigue took its toil. Once we were back to full strength with injured players back on the field we settled into a good season. The stamina learnt in those early games played off, in a tough game in poor weather against Didcot Casuals Blue winning us the end of season Trophy.
The start of the Spring league was delayed by Covid lockdown, meaning that our supporters had less need for those thermal waterproofs this year! When the season did start in April, the team did well given the lack of training wining our first match and continuing with a streak of wins, draws and a few losses closing the season proudly.
Throughout the season all the players worked hard, whether at training, during matches or whilst on the bench waiting their turn and they all deserve our thanks. It has been great to see them support each other and develop further as team.
We say goodbye to our sponsors Rowse Honey, who’s generosity meant that our team could be formed for which we are hugely grateful, and we look forward to welcoming a new sponsor next season.
Thank you to our managers & coaches for providing a consistent approach to developing rounded players, both in skills and attitude. A particular challenge on the cold, wet training nights at Hithercroft!
As always a final note of thanks to parents, grandparents, siblings and others for the support and encouragement you provide the both players and the club. Onwards to the 21/22 season and the introduction to the off-side rule!

Summary 2019/20 as U9s White
The team have made us proud in their first season. Due to the interest in playing at this age group and to ensure quality game time for all, the U9’s split into Blues & Whites this season. It has been a joy to watch the ‘Whites’ develop and grow in confidence. As a new team we joined the ‘F' South league. Drawing in our first match against Europa Titans, gave the team members a starting boost just as they were getting used to the idea of the larger pitch and longer game times introduced at this age group!
Although we didn’t win the Autumn trophy, we reached the final and played hard in a ferociously cold wind against a strong Rose Hill team. This was a great achievement and highlight for all the players - almost as much as beating the same team three months later at our last game before the Covid-19 lockdown. Throughout the season all the players worked hard, rewarding parents and other spectators with excellent football and an impressive forty six goals scored across league and trophy games. A huge thank you to our sponsors, Rowse Honey, who’s generosity has meant that our team could be formed, enabling our players to grow and develop. Likewise thanks to our managers & coaches for providing a consistent approach to developing rounded players, both in skills and attitude. A particular challenge on the cold, wet training nights at Hithercroft!
A final note of thanks to parents, grandparents, siblings and others for the support and encouragement you provide appreciated by both players and the club. Onwards to the 20/21 season!

Summary 2018/19 as U8s  (NB: only one team last year)
Another year playing in the very competitive A league, and, as always, our players rose to the challenge, improving throughout the season. We reached the semi-finals at the Oxford City Spring Trophy event losing to league winners Horspath. We also got to the supplementary final of the knockout cup. We had some tough games in the league but had some great wins against top opposition - notable wins over Oxford Blackbirds, Kidlington and Harwell & Hendred. We also saw two of our players scouted for Oxford United which was fantastic to see.
The squad were able to be mascots for Oxford United back in April, thanks to our very generous sponsors Belinda & Lawrence at Thames Construction. We all had a great day and I’m sure it was an experience the players will never forget. A huge thank you to you both for all you have done for the team, and your continued support.
We have been at full squad size capacity all season which has made it difficult to give everyone equal game time. However, due to the continued interest from new players we are happy to announce that from next season there will be two Under 9’s teams - Cholsey Bluebirds Blues & Cholsey Bluebirds Whites. We are looking forward to the new challenges Under 9 football will bring in September.
We would like to thank all of the parents for their continued support, help and understanding. Thank you to Andy Lewis for being our fantastic referee for all of our home matches. Finally, and most importantly, a massive thank you to our players for their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm every week.

Summary 2017/18 as U7s
Having been involved in helping Glenn with the Rising stars for the last two years, myself and Adie Lee took charge of the Under 7 team for the 2017/18 season. We originally had 9 signed on who all came through from Rising Stars. We started off excellently in the local league system, winning all 6 matches with some great wins. Notably 5-2 at Berinsfield and 6-0 against a good St Edmunds team.
We qualified for the A league after reaching the semi-finals at Oxford City. At this stage our squad grew to 13 players. We struggled initially in the A league, our village kids were a little intimidated coming up against the Oxford teams. We found our feet though, and won 5 in a row before losing the semi-final to the eventual winners. We finished in 4th place which was an excellent performance in our first season.
We would like the thank the committee for being so welcoming, Laurence and Belinda at Thames Construction who sponsor us, and all the parents that help week in week out. It’s been a great first year and looking forward to many more.
Nick Gesner

Summary of the Rising Stars from 2016/17
The Rising Stars are the lifeblood the Club. Without the influx of our youngsters we would soon cease to exist. So, I’m really pleased to say that we have had 12 regulars attending Saturday morning training sessions and another 5 or 6 coming along now and again. They ALL have displayed great enthusiasm throughout the year and had a brilliant time at our Tournament. There are some very promising players and as Under 7s next year, will be playing 5 aside matches in the Oxford Mail Youth League.
