Summary of the 2014-15 Season - April 2015
Following losing the first 2 League gmes, we won the next three (Abingdon Town, Botley Boys & Cumnor Minors) to make ourselves safe from going back down to the "C" League after just one campaign - whatever happened in the final 2 games.
As it turned out, we lost both - Didcot Casuals were too strong for us on the day although we did have a couple of key players unavailable - and the last game, against Chalgove Cavaliers was unbelievable - I wanted to give EVERYONE available at least a full half so we kicked off with a slighly weaker team than usual - consequence we were 4-0 down at HT not because we played badly, far from it, it was just that they scored 3 long range unstoppable goals from well over 25 yards - second half brought on 5 substitutes and within 5 minutes we had scored 3 - sadly though, due to a bit of a mix-up in our defence, they scored a 5th and soon after a 6th (another long range hoof from 35 yards this time) - we replied with another goal ourselves but almost immediately they scored a 7th - a cross-cum shot from their right winger sailed into the far top corner - however, we had the final word and slotted home our 5th. WHAT A GAME !
Our final position in the League was 5th out of 8.
We are already looking forward to next season when we hope to do even better - does anyone have a spare 7 foot keeper !!!

Summary of the 2014-15 Season - February 2015
WHAT A SEASON IT'S BEEN SO FAR !
The team has exceeded all my expectations, winning 6 of their 7 League matches to top the Table and gain promotion to the "B" League in the New Year.
The players have really taken to the new 9 a-side format on a larger pitch, each improving both their individual and team skills. They have become a much more cohesive unit - knowing their positions, passing much more frequently and working for each other - their attitude has been fantastic and it's been a pleasure to watch them as their confidence and belief in their own ability has developed. Their sportsmanship is brilliant, never questioning decisions (apart from one or two dodgy ones but accept that referees' decisions are final) - they are a credit to themselves, the team and the Club.
Also, the squad has increased from 13 registered players at the end of last season, to the full 18 allowed this year and we even have a couple of others who join us for training sessions. This clearly shows that the ethos of the team is second to none - but it does give me a bit of a headache when selecting who to play !
I and the players are under no illusions regarding moving up to the "B" League but, on our day, we are a match for anyone - and we are all looking forward very much to the challenge of competing against higher quality opposition - there will be no easy games in 2015.
As manager, I would also like to take this opportunity of thanking all parents for their commitment, help and support, in so many ways this year - it really is very much appreciated - THANK YOU.

Summary of the 2013-14 Season
Although our results last season were mixed, it was a truly fabulous year with every single player giving 110%.
In no game were we outclassed and with a bit more luck could have won half the games we lost - that's football for you !
GRAND TOTALS Played 53 Won 19 Drew 12 Lost 30 Goals : for 58 against 85
(includes all matches in the 5 Tournaments we played, as well as the 15 league and 2 Cup games)
As well as each player improving their individual skills over the season, the most outstanding achievement has been the steady development of a “team” ethos with everyone now working together . . . for each other.
Some of the passing movement has been brilliant and when we’ve lost possession, the determination shown in trying to win the ball back has been second to none.
As is often the case with professional clubs, we played better against stronger opposition and we gave some of the so called “better” teams a real fright at times. With a bit more luck, we could have caused a few upsets.
However, there is clearly one area we need to improve and so do Leyton Orient . . . . taking penalties !!!!
I would also like to add, and I’ve said this every year since joining the Bluebirds, I could not have wished for a more supportive and helpful group of parents.
I thank everyone – you are a credit to yourselves and I am very proud to be associated with such a great group of players and parents – THANK YOU ALL.
