Cholsey Bluebirds Under 12s 2017/18
Summary from last season 2016/17 as Under 11s
Can't quite believe that the season is over? Baz and I have looked back on the season with mixed emotions. Winning both Winter and Spring trophy events was good for the boys and something to show for all the excellent performances. Reaching the final of the knockout Trophy and leading 2 – 0, all was looking good but ended in a last minute extra time mix-up, so runners up was a little-disappointing. The season ended with our annual trip to Butlins for one of their national events. After a disappointing first game, the team responded to the managers comments and produced 2 much better performances, ending the day with 1 point from 9. Sunday after a late night, the boys put in two sterling games, winning both, leaving us on 7 points. The evening presentation was hosted by Robert Pires and as we went up onto the stage, it was announced that we had won the fair play award for our age group - to the roars from the parents. I am convinced that nobody was listening in to our team talk after match. Onwards and upwards. Up the Village. Dave Miners & Barry Primmer |

Summary of the 2015-16 Season
Having gained promotion, the winter season saw us yet again have the lion’s share of results go our way. We were elevated to the B league in Spring. The loss of Jack and Henry was a blow but staying at the club with the under 9s and as you just heard have been great for them and Mikes u9s - well done boys.
The Spring League started well with a win against a relegated A league team Abingdon, but with 3 high scoring draws 6 each 4 each and 3 each and 3 defeats, 2 defeats by odd goal, our B league status hangs in the balance?
Whatever the outcome Baz and I are looking forward to next season. There will be changes - game time, pitch and goal size and offside rule also - will make Pre-season interesting.
Our tournament I believe was fantastic and worth all the effort we all put in. If you're not aware it's our 50th year running football for the local boys and girls next season - not bad for a village - and it promises to be a bigger and better than ever - check website nearer the time to see how you can help us push this clubs forward.
Many thanks for our sponsors, Memories of Bengal and Oxford Spires Scaffolding; to my best mate and wing man Baz;
Susie, Jane and Millie for letting us spend so much time scratching our heads, pulling our hair out and teaching the boys a few things on the way. Thanks Glenn and Mel for keeping us all in order.

Summary of the 2014-15 Season
We started the season in the D league and finished in the top 2 and winning the trophy event final on penalties. This gained us promotion into the winter C league which was more competitive but we only failed to beat Oxford Blackbirds. The progress from the whole squad is there for everyone to see. The large squad with players of different standards has tested both Bazza and my coaching and man management skills to the limit.
Summer tournaments went well reaching our first final and getting beaten on penalties against a very good Radley side, also semi-finalists at Harwell.
Our first win at the national tournament at Butlins was great and that final whistle will live with me for some time - the smiles from players and supporters was brilliant and celebrations went on well into the evening . . . after the children had gone to bed !
Promotion to the B league is our aim for next season and with several new players showing interest in what we’re achieving as a squad, is great for the club . . . and our hard working committee.
Many thanks go out to all my parents whose conduct and encouragement towards the team and help on match days doesn't go unnoticed.
Thanks to our sponsors Oxford Spires & Memories of Bengal, to Bazza and Susie for their constant help and of course to my other half, Jane, and my daughter Millie, for letting me enjoy my passion that is the beautiful game.
