Summary 2020/21 Season as U12s
So the Season began after Lockdown take 1, with the boys returning with longer locks/mops and deeper voices!!
We started the season in the C League, winning 3, drawing 1 and with 1 loss. We headed into the last game needing a win or draw to take our first League Title!! We were up against Bure Park, who were in 2nd, so we knew this was going to be tight all the way to the end!
We took a 2-0 lead and kept this until the last 5 minutes, when Bure scored 2 quickfire goals! Duncan and I were enduring the most nervous 2 minutes of our coaching careers, but the boys managed to hold on and our first League Title as a squad was confirmed!! What an amazing achievement by all the boys, well deserved!!
Lockdown Take 2 then hit and delayed the start of the Autumn/Spring B League.
Eventually we started mid April and faced some tough, well drilled sides, who on occasions we struggled against, but always battled!! And it was that one word that carried us through all our games, finishing in a very respectful 5th place. This again is a massive achievement for all the boys!
So we now move to Under 13s, again a move up in pitch / goal size and an additional 2 players. So the boys will have to adapt to this, which I'm sure they will.
Myself and Duncan would like to thank all the boys for their continued commitment and effort, long may it continue!
We would also like to thank the parents and their extended families for their continued support, which without myself and Duncan would struggle to keep the squad together!!
And lastly from me, cheers Dunc, let's do it again!!

Summary 2019/20 Season as U11s
Well, another tough season!!
Moved to Sunday matches and lost a few boys to Rugby & Hockey, which was really felt throughout the team!!
Started the Season in the B League and really struggled with some tough games, against really strong, well drilled sides and with us regrouping / reshaping our team we eventually finished the Winter League in the bottom 2/3, so were relegated to the C League.
We then had an amazing run in our Trophy Event, with some truly outstanding performances, but unfortunately losing out in the last minute of the final to Abingdon Youth!!
We also had some much improved performances in our Autumn/ Spring C League, finishing probably in the top two before lockdown!!
So who knows what is to come, but both Duncan & I are very proud of the boys and all their efforts!! Our thanks to all our parents, families and supporters and we look forward to seeing you all soon!! Stay Safe!!
Well, another tough season!!

Summary 2018/19 Season as U10s
Well another tough & emotional season, starting in the A League for fourth year in a row, which is a great credit to the boy’s progression & commitment since Rising Stars.
With some very strong teams within this League we struggled on occasions to match them all, although we made it through to the final of the Trophy Event, unfortunately losing out to a well drilled Easington side. after the first round of League matches, we moved into the B League, where we enjoyed many good results, which saw us finish within the top two!
Three tournaments entered this season, obviously our own, Crowmarsh and Didcot.
Cholsey: We had some great results, leading us into the quarter final, unfortunately losing out to a very strong Rotherfield side. Some awesome teamwork & passing was wonderful to watch & the boys really enjoyed themselves.
Crowmarsh: Some great teamwork saw us finishing 3rd in the League and progressing into the Plate Quarter Final, unfortunately losing to a well drilled Didcot team.
Didcot: We battled well in the League stages against some very strong sides, finishing fifth and progressing into the plate semi-final unfortunately losing out to one of 8 Didcot teams!
We would like to thank all the boys for the continued commitment, willingness to learn and effort throughout the season. Duncan & I are very proud of how they have come together as a team and we hope this continues. Some of the boys are leaving us to follow their paths in other sports, so we wish them the best of luck with this. Many thanks to the parents for their continued support throughout the season, as well as Freddie and of course our wives!
So onwards and upwards next season! Bring it on!

Summary 2017/18 Season as U9s
Well, where do I start?
This season brought a number of changes which the boys adapted to well: moving onto a larger pitch, the introduction of two additional players, and slightly longer game duration. We had some really tough fixtures this season (our third year running in the A League) with many of our opponents fielding academy players. Our boys matched them with positive passing and teamwork and showed progression in the positions given to them.
After finishing 5th this year, I’m sure the boys are more than ready to give the A League another crack next season and hopefully, those games we lost by a single goal, we can turn around in our favour as they continue to develop as a team !
The summer brings tournaments, and we entered three. The boys worked really hard and were rewarded with us narrowly losing out on penalties in the semi- finals of the plate competition in two of them, and of course our first silverware as a team was won at Crowmarsh, where we won the main competition (with two more penalty shoot outs, which I was unable to watch !!) A massive achievement for the whole squad !!
The boys have been (on most occasions) brilliant this season and Duncan and I are very proud of how they have progressed as a team and hope this will continue next season. We would like to thank the boys for their hard work, all the parents for the support and assistance, especially Gordon & Chris for their coaching duties, Freddie for his ref duties and of course our WONDERFUL wives, for putting up with the high & lows of football management !!

Summary 2016/17 Season as Under 8s
The Under 8's have had another great season in the A League. Three very successful and positive tournaments also completed!
All the boys are growing in strength, ability, a greater understanding of the game and teamwork.
The boys, Duncan and I are looking forward to moving up to 7 a side and the bigger pitch, which also offers new challenges for us all!
My thanks to the boys, Duncan and all the parents for this season (and Freddie for ref duties), let's get ready for the next!!

Summary 2015/16 Season as Under 7s
Well where to begin? My first season with the Bluebirds as a manager / coach and what a fantastic one it has been!
It started with my first signing on process; piles of paperwork, cash, cheques, e-mails, and photos flying in from all angles. The team kit, balls, water bottles and first aid kit (well I’m still waiting for Duncan for that!) ordered and we were kitted out for the league season.
15 wonderfully enthusiastic, crazy, noisy, mad but a joy to be with (well most of the time) children all ready to go. Pre-season training started well, with lots of positive signs.
Our opening two League games ended in victories, followed by a draw, a defeat and a final win. A great start, which meant then we were seeded into the ‘A’ League for the second section of the season.  A fantastic achievement by all involved. There followed many tougher opponents with the boys having to work even harder; growing in strength, skills and maturity, unfortunately Duncan stayed the same!!
The League season was completed with us finishing in 3rd place within our League which is something that both Duncan and I are extremely proud of. We hope that our boys, parents and supporters are too, considering there are 35 other teams within the Under 7’s League setup !!
The boys acquitted themselves really well at the three summer tournaments we attended; showing a real team spirit, and playing some lovely football.
I would personally like to thank my trusty assistant Duncan who has always been there to support me, although on some occasions his contributions / suggestions have been questionable!
The boys are a pleasure to be with!! We can’t wait for next season!
Finally, thanks to all at the club for welcoming me and for their ongoing advice and support which is also extended to the parents.
