Cholsey Bluebirds Under 14s 2017/18
Dave receiving the Worst First Tee Tee-shot Trophy - usually referred to as the "POO SHOT" - at Cholsey Golf Society's 2015 Captain's Day and Presentation Evening Dinner.
Let's hope his football managerial skills are better than his golf ! (Dave is Secretary of the Society) Update : Reading last year's Summary (below), we feel his "Managerial" skills are actually worse than his "golfing" ones ! NEW PLAYERS We have the maximum 18 registered players allowed for this season. If any other parents are interested in their child joining us, they are most welcome to come along to a few training sessions but cannot play in league or cup matches, unless a player drops out of the team and I can register the new player. Summary from last season 2016/17 as Under 13s
With the season split into two mini ones, we almost gained promotion last December, finishing 3rd in the D League. However, this year saw us finish second and so we finally move up to the C League come next September – nothing less than the boys deserve for all their outstanding efforts both individually and as a team - scoring 56 goals and conceding just 13 in 7 matches. We are all very much looking forward to the challenge of facing tougher opposition next season. Dave Evans SEE BELOW FOR MORE DETAILS AND RESULTS from 2016/17 and FINAL SPRING "D" LEAGUE TABLE |

Training is CONFIRMED: weekly from after half-term until early March on a WEDNESDAY under floodlights on the ASTRO TURF pitch at Wallingford Sports Park (Hither Croft) from 6:00 - 7:00pm (cost £2.50 per child per session). FIXTURES The Divisions have been formed using the results from last seasons games with promotion and relegation to ensure teams are placed correctly. We have reduced to 4 divisions to ensure more games, but this has meant some additional adjustments have been necessary. Teams will play each other once and League Tables will be published. The top two teams in each division will receive trophies at the Autumn Presentation Day at The Kassam Stadium. New divisions will be drawn up in December with a promotion and relegation of 2 teams in each division. Indoor Futsal games or Development games will be organised when teams have been knocked out of the Cup Competition. Indoor Futsal games will be organised in the Winter months for any teams wishing to take part. Outdoor games will be arranged for teams not wishing to play indoors. Teams can elect to play a mixture of indoor and outdoor games. |

SUMMER 2016 TOURNAMENT PHOTOS
Sam's mum is a Professional Photographer - I think you can tell by the quality of her "snaps" below at some of the 2016 Summer Tournaments we entered. Compared to our "League" season, we did brilliantly - entering TWO teams at all Tournaments (Marston / Ours / Crowmarsh / Didcot Town), with both teams reaching the Plate Semi-Finals at 3 of them.
She was going to be our "OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHER" of the team but sadly Sam is not rejoining for the 16/17 season.
If any parents would like a copy of any of the photos, let Dave know.

Summary of the 2015/16 Season
Well, what can I say about this year . . . glad it’s over ! In the first half of the season in the “B” league, although we struggled a bit, we weren’t outplayed by any team, but ended up being relegated after winning just the one game. Sadly for us, in the “C” league in the New Year, things went from bad to worse . . . lost all 7 games . . . relegated again.
However, just looking at the stats, gives you a very distorted view of exactly how well the team played. I lost count of the number of times we hit the woodwork, the number of superb saves opposition keepers made, the number of efforts just over the bar or wide of the post and . . . the number of missed open goals. It just wasn’t our year !
Despite the obvious disappointment, every one of the squad played in the true Bluebirds' tradition . . . always giving 100% and NEVER . . . EVER . . . giving up. They should be proud of themselves . . . as their manager, I certainly am.

Summary of the 2014-15 Season
The team exceeded all my expectations before Christmas, winning 6 of their 7 League matches to top the Table and gain promotion to the "B" League in the New Year.
Following losing the first 2 League games in the “B” League, we won the next three to make ourselves safe from going back down to the "C" League after just one campaign - whatever happened in the final 2 games.
As it turned out, we lost both - Didcot Casuals were too strong for us on the day and the last game, against Chalgove Cavaliers was unbelievable with the final result 5-7 after being 0-4 down at half-time.
The team’s sportsmanship is brilliant, never questioning decisions - they are a credit to themselves, the team and the Club.
Although we shall be losing a few players we are very much looking forward to next season already.
