Summary of the 2015-16 Season
We started our third full season in the A league with the news that two new teams would be joining the Oxford Mail Boys League, something to relish as it is always good to play new teams with different tactics and skills. Sadly, we also lost one of our players to Oxford United, leaving us with enough fit players to allow for only one sub!
A tough start to the season ensued and further injuries found us playing without a full starting line-up on a number of occasions, let alone having a substitute. And that is where the true strength of this team really came to light. Other teams under similar pressure would let their heads drop when they have no option but to carry on – but not this team! This group of boys really seem to shine when the odds are against them. Rather than give up and simply go through the motions they have given 100% to their team and to each other and have been a credit to themselves and this club. Battling even got them a 3 – 1 victory when fielding just 9 men (it should be 11). We finished a respectable 4th place in the end.
We are finishing the season competing in a number of tournaments – always lots of football and lots of fun. Best result so far, a Cholsey v Cholsey final at Didcot. Needless to say, Cholsey won!
It has been my pleasure working with these lads as they grow from boys to young men and I look forward to next season. You never know with a full squad and the rub of the green we might even get our hands on the silverware again…………….

Summary of the 2014-15 Season
This season our team set about defending our title as A league winners. The competition was again split into two mini seasons - Autumn and Spring.
In both the Autumn and Spring leagues we found ourselves undefeated, sitting at the top of the table. However the finales played out quite differently.
The end of the Autumn season saw the team at the top of the league with the greatest goal difference. Sadly league rules do not accept goal difference which forced a play-off and unfortunately we lost to Harwell and Hendred FC.
The Spring league saw us win every match up to the last fixture of the season so we knew before kick-off that a win or draw against Summertown Cobras would clinch outright victory. A tense match followed but a nail-biting draw saw us finish the season champions of the A league again.
We enjoyed our visit to the Kassam for a second time this year to collect the silverware!
We enjoyed the fun of the tournament season and a brilliant start saw us win the Abingdon tournament and we also made the semi-finals at our own Club Tournament in Cholsey.
This team is fortunate to include a fantastic group of boys and parents who thoroughly deserve their continued success.
